VERDEinMED Local Policy Recommendations

New VERDEinMED guide supports local circular textile policies

The VERDEinMED project, co-funded by the EU Interreg EuroMED Programme, has published a practical guide featuring local policy recommendations to support the transition towards a more sustainable and circular textile sector in the Mediterranean. Based on stakeholder dialogue and project findings, the recommendations highlight regulatory, economic, and awareness-raising measures that can help local authorities, businesses, and communities reduce textile waste and promote environmentally and socially responsible practices across the textile value chain.

The practical guide presents policy recommendations and available instruments at the local level, based on lessons learned from previous project activities and participatory events with relevant stakeholders. The guide categorises local instruments according to the typologies proposed in the report The Role of Municipal Policy in the Circular Economy: Investment, Jobs and Social Capital, published by the Circle Economy organisation:

  • Regulatory & Strategic Plans
  • Economic Instruments
  • Soft Instruments
