Close the Loop: A practical guide towards a circular fashion industry

Flanders District of Creativity and Circular Flanders have developed a practical toolkit to guide fashion entrepreneurs through the basics of a more sustainable way of working.

It contains the following modules:

Planner: after completing a simple questionnaire that covers every stage in Close The Loop (from resources to end of life), you will receive a personalized summary. This helpful document contains an action plan with short-term and long-term actions along with ready-to-use tips and tools. In addition, it identifies your quick wins: sustainability efforts you are already making but have not yet incorporated into a proper policy.

Financial feasibility: via a ROI calculator and through lessons learned from best practices and experiments bundled in an e-book, readers can gain an insight into the cost-benefit of different strategies and how they should be optimized.

Customers & communication: on the webpage of the Modemonitor you can get general insights into how consumers view sustainable clothing and circular business models such as rental, resale and repair. Furthermore, the Circular Communication Guide provides many guidelines for an effective communication of your circular actions.

Internal support: rollout from sustainability targets to an action plan for all employees. This module focus on the involvement of a fashion company employees in the implementation and rollout of a Corporate Social Responsibility policy. To increase the chances of a successful rollout, the Rollout Toolbox provides a practical coaching approach built around four key steps:

  • Set priorities for each department to ensure that everyone understands what matters most.
  • Identify the behaviors needed to achieve your targets and turn objectives into concrete actions.
  • Determine the support employees need to adopt and maintain the desired behaviors, such as training, guidance, or coaching.
  • Develop an employee engagement action plan to involve employees and support the implementation process.
